In 2022, I am cycling 15,000 miles in one year in support of my Do It Yourself Fundraising (DIY) event to help improve the lives of people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and to find a cure for MS. On behalf of everyone who has MS, I would love your support. Please Donate today!

As of October 14, 2022, I have cycled 10,000 miles. I have 79 days until New Year’s Eve 2023. If you are doing the math, this equates to 454 miles per week or 63.28 miles per day. You can follow my weekly progress under my Strava profile Rider Mark Carey.

I knew when I began this journey my body would begin to fail me at 10,000 miles. My muscles ache every day and I have joint pain and tenderness from a preexisting condition. My mental stamina is beginning to waiver in the face of the wall of miles ahead of me. This is exactly what I signed up for. The next 5000 miles is the zone of the unknown for me. I ride in support of all MS patients who cannot control their fatigue, pain, cognitive issues, and their emotions about what the future holds.  Please help me with your donations to find a cure for MS. Please Donate today!

Individuals With MS Don’t Have a Choice

Nearly 1 million people live with multiple sclerosis in the US, according to a 2019 study, including my wife Heather Carey , friends, and clients I have represented over the years.  “Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system. Currently, there is no cure. Symptoms vary from person to person and may include disabling fatigue, mobility challenges, cognitive changes, and vision issues.” The cause of MS is still unknown. Scientists believe that a combination of environmental and genetic factors contribute to the risk of developing MS. Read more about the results of the immune system attack in MS Here.

A recent 2022 study found that the overall risk of death is about 75% higher for individuals with MS as compared to the general population.  That is a staggering statistic, and we all need to do our part to cure MS.  Please Donate today!

Over the past 75 years, the National MS Society has been the driving force for progress and paved the way for nearly all the treatment options available today”but, they’re not finished yet. The Society is determined to be a lifelong partner and resource for every person affected by MS”those diagnosed with the disease and their loved ones”and to ultimately find a cure.

A Miracle Cure on the Horizon

Until the medical community (BioNTec) perfects the Cure for MS, I will not stop cycling 10,000 miles every year.  As medical science pushes the boundaries in MS Research, I will continue to push my physical and mental boundaries for this worthwhile cause.  Please join me in my effort to eliminate MS.

Please support me today

The money I raise through My DIY Fundraiser will help fund MS research, programs and services so that people affected by MS can live their best lives.  We need a cure, and you can help find one. Please help me create a world free of MS.  Please Donate Today!

Thank you!!
